A Vessel Acceptance Survey is performed on newly delivered vessels to identify defects, incomplete work, installation deficiencies, damage, or other issues that may require correction by the manufacturer, dealer, or shipyard before final acceptance by the owner.
Many buyers assume that a new vessel will be delivered free of defects; however, newly manufactured boats and yachts can still contain construction deficiencies, cosmetic issues, improperly installed equipment, electrical concerns, incomplete systems, or damage that occurred during manufacturing, transportation, commissioning, or delivery. An independent acceptance survey provides owners with a professional evaluation of the vessel prior to taking final delivery or before warranty periods begin to expire.
During the inspection, major structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and onboard systems are evaluated for condition, workmanship, functionality, and visible defects. Particular attention is given to fit and finish, electrical installations, safety systems, equipment operation, and compliance with accepted marine standards and practices. Operational testing and sea trials may also be performed when applicable.
As a Professional Engineer experienced in structural and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems, I provide clients with a detailed technical assessment of vessel construction quality and system installation. This additional engineering perspective can help identify issues that may not be apparent during a standard walkthrough or dealer orientation.
A detailed written report is provided following the inspection and typically includes photographs, documented deficiencies, recommendations for corrective action, and items requiring further review or repair. Acceptance surveys can help owners address concerns early, improve warranty claim documentation, and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs after delivery.
Vessel acceptance surveys are available for yachts, center consoles, sport fishing vessels, sailboats, pontoon boats, and commercial vessels throughout Central Florida and coastal communities including Orlando, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, Melbourne, Titusville, Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Port Canaveral, and surrounding areas.
