Insurance Condition and Value Survey

A Limited Condition & Valuation (C&V) Survey is commonly performed to satisfy insurance company requirements for vessel coverage or policy renewal. Insurance providers may require a marine survey based on the vessel’s age, size, value, construction type, or overall condition and may also have specific reporting requirements that must be addressed within the survey report.

Unlike a pre-purchase survey, an insurance C&V survey is more limited in scope and is not intended to provide a buyer with a fully comprehensive evaluation of the vessel. The primary purpose of the inspection is to document the vessel’s general condition, identify visible safety concerns or major deficiencies, and determine an estimated fair market value and replacement value for insurance underwriting purposes.

During the inspection, major structural, mechanical, electrical, and safety-related systems are visually evaluated for overall condition and apparent deficiencies. Particular attention is given to items that may affect vessel safety, insurability, or compliance with accepted marine standards and practices.

As a Professional Engineer experienced in structural and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems, I provide clients and insurance carriers with a detailed and technically informed assessment of vessel condition. Electrical safety concerns, corrosion issues, structural deficiencies, fuel system concerns, and other significant findings are carefully documented within the report.

A written Condition & Valuation report is provided following the inspection and typically includes photographs, observed deficiencies, recommendations, and valuation information commonly required by insurance companies and financial institutions.

Insurance marine surveys are available for yachts, center consoles, sailboats, sport fishing vessels, pontoon boats, and commercial vessels located throughout Central Florida and coastal communities including Orlando, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, Melbourne, Titusville, Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Port Canaveral, and surrounding areas.
